Werner’s S2208/S2210 attic ladders are defective and dangerous.  These ladders were discontinued because their hinges are made of monkey metal and break easily.  These ladders are unsafe, unrepairable, and should not be used at all.  If you have such a ladder, it should be replaced as soon as possible.
